One Line Summary

Discuss directions and open problems in frameworks for building a programmable and extensible pipelines that leverage software and hardware.

Abstract

In the network we believe there is a need for a programmable and extensible packet pipeline to support emerging use cases. In this session we want to show existing use cases we are aware of and hopefully add new cases to this list. In addition we can highlight current work using extensible software and hardware components such as languages used to define the pipeline, when we provision this pipeline and the interface we use to configure it at runtime. Finally because we are aware of at least 3 or 4 approaches to accomplish this goal we would like to talk about next steps and possible collaboration opportunities.
