Abstract

NFC is primarily used for smart tags reading and writing, connection handover for pairing bluetooth or wifi devices, authentication credential exchanges, and payment.

This presentation will start with a quick tour of NFC, presenting the different standards and the various existing solutions.

Then we will go through the linux nfc stack implementation in more details. This will be an opportunity to discuss about current NFC developments and the recent progresses made in the Digital Protocol layer implementation. Not specifically related to NFC, this could be a chance to talk and share about debugging practices, tools used, and environment setup.

This will also be an opportunity to talk about interesting new features of the NFC subsystem like Host Card Emulation (HCE). We will do an overview of the various specific use cases for HCE and discuss about how to implement such a feature and integrate it into the existing stack.

Participants should come prepared to share what NFC use cases are most important for them. This session could be used to prioritize what should be worked on next.
