Regular Registration Rate Available through August 11

The regular registration rate of $400 is now available through August 11, after which the registration fee increases to $500.  The student registration rate of $100 remains in effect throughout the registration period.  Register now – space is limited and the conference is expected to sell out.  See our Attend page for details.

Microconference Discussion Topic & BoF Submissions Now Open

The online system for requesting BoF sessions and for submitting discussion topics for any of the approved microconferences is now open! FYI, due to technical difficulties, we are no longer using Summit.  Both microconference and BoF submission sites use OpenID to log in, so if you have previously created a Launchpad account, you will be able to authenticate using those credentials. If you previously had admin privileges for the Summit site, your credentials should have been imported into the new system; please contact the planning committee if you have issues.

LPC attendees can submit topics for discussion as part of microconferences.  To submit a topic, first review the full list of approved microconferences here.  Once you have determined which microconference your topic falls under, go to the Microconference Proposals Page  and submit your proposal. Microconference leads are responsible for accepting and scheduling discussion topics within a microconference.  For more details and instructions on submitting a topic, determining the microconference leader, and managing submissions, please see http://www.linuxplumbersconf.org/2013/submitting-microconference-discussion-topics/.

We are also now accepting proposals for BoFs, or “Birds of a Feather” Sessions.  A BoF is an informal gathering held to discuss a particular topic.  Generally, these are used for special interest discussions, topics that aren’t large enough to warrant a full microconference, or to solicit input on technical problems.  Any LPC attendee may propose a BoF session by going to the BoF Submission Page; instructions are available at http://www.linuxplumbersconf.org/2013/submitting-bof-session-requests/. BoFs will be scheduled by the LPC Planning Team as the conference draws closer and we have a more concrete schedule.

If you have questions, please email the planning team at contact@lists.linuxplumbersconf.org.

CFP for Refereed Track Extended to June 20

The deadline for refereed track submissions for LPC has been extended to June 20, at 11:55PM CST. Please see our Participate page for details on submitting a talk.

Paper & Registration Deadlines, New Microconferences

The conference is drawing closer, and lots of things have been happening with the planning process:

1. The refereed track paper submission deadline of June 17 is rapidly approaching. If you are interested in submitting a paper, please refer to the refereed track information section of our Particpate page at http://www.linuxplumbersconf.org/2013/participate/#cfrt

2. The list of microconferences approved for this year has grown since our last announcement. The following twelve microconferences are now part of the conference lineup:

- Android
- Automotive
- Secure Boot
- Boot and Core OS (includes Fastboot)
- Containers
- File and Storage Systems
- Graphics and Display
- LLVM
- Network Virtualization
- ACPI/PM, PCI subsystems
- Scaling
- Virtualization

We still have a small number of microconference slots available, so if you have an idea, please refer to the webpage at http://www.linuxplumbersconf.org/2013/participate/#cfmc for more information.

For more details on each microconference, please see the topics Wiki at http://wiki.linuxplumbersconf.org/2013:topics. Modifications to the topics Wikis are likely to occur as the conference approaches, so check for updates frequently.

3. The regular registration fee of $400 is now in effect until July 28. Register before then to avoid late registration rates (student registrations are still $100). Registration for LPC is limited in order to allow interaction and collaboration, so please don’t wait until the last minute to register. For the past two years, the conference has sold out, and we expect the same this year. For more information on how to register, please see http://www.linuxplumbersconf.org/2013/attend/

4. Please book your hotel room through the link on the Attend page referenced above to get the conference rates. Due to multiple events occurring at the Hyatt during the conference week, we expect a sell-out on the hotel, so please make your travel plans as soon as possible. The full LPC schedule won’t be available for a few more weeks, but for the sake of travel planning you can expect the conference to span from early Wednesday morning (9/18) through the closing party on Friday evening (9/20). If you plan to attend any of the Linux Foundation’s other events taking place the same week, such as LinuxCon North America or Cloud Open, please see the LF’s events page for information at: http://events.linuxfoundation.org/

As always, if you have any questions, you can contact us at contact at lists.linuxplumbersconf.org.

3 More Microconferences Added for 2013

The planning committee has just approved three more microconferences for this year’s conference: File Systems & Storage, ACPI/PM & PCI subsystems, and LLVM.  Details on these topics plus the previously approved microconferences (Android, Containers, Graphics/Display, and Secure Boot) are available on the Wiki, along with a list of the currently pending proposals.  We will continue approving microconferences over the next few months, so get your proposal in now.

We are also still accepting traditional paper proposals for the Refereed Track that will be shared with LinuxCon.  Refereed track proposals are due by June 17, 2013.  For details, see the Refereed Track section of the Participate page at:  http://www.linuxplumbersconf.org/2013/participate/#cfrt.

As previously announced, we have extended the early registration date for LPC to May 12.  View rates and register now using our Attend page.

Early Registration Deadline Extended To May 12

We have extended the early registration deadline for LPC to May 12 so that we can approve and announce a few more microconferences before the deadline.   All other deadlines for paper submissions and normal registration dates have not changed.  Please see the Attend page for registration details and dates, and the Participate page for information on submitting proposals.

Early Microconference Approvals

The LPC committee has begun to issue early microconference approvals for this year’s conference.  So far, we’ve signed up Android, Containers, Graphics/Display, and Secure Boot microconferences.  For details about these microconferences (and the list of pending proposals), please see the LPC 2013 Wiki.

We are still accepting proposals, so if you have an idea for a Microconference, please see the instructions on our Participate page at http://www.linuxplumbersconf.org/2013/participate/ to submit a proposal.  While there is no official deadline for Microconference proposals (in order to facilitate the last-minute addition of hot topics), we would like to have the majority of the conference content in place by the June/July timeframe in order to allow participants to make advance travel plans.

We will continue to approve microconferences over the next few months as proposals are entered into the Wiki and reviewed by the committee.  Please contact the planning committee at contact@lists.linuxplumbersconf.org if you have questions about submitting a microconference.

Early Registration Ends April 29

The last day to register for LPC at the early bird rate of $350 is Monday, April 29.  Starting on April 30, registration cost will increase to $400.  Go to the Attend page for more details or to register now.

Reminder: Refereed Track Submissions Due June 17

We are still accepting paper proposals for the Refereed Track for Linux Plumbers Conference 2013.  Refereed track talks are traditional presentations, and this year these talks will be available to attendees at both Linux Plumbers *and* LinuxCon, which overlap by one day in New Orleans in September.  Submissions are due by June 17.  Please see the Refereed Track Proposals section of the Participate page for details on how to submit a paper.

We are also still accepting Microconference topics and expect to begin early approvals for microconfs within the next week or so.  If you have an idea and you haven’t yet put it on the wiki, please do so soon.  The wiki can be found here.
