Jonathan Corbet is a co-founder of LWN.net and the author of its Kernel Page; he is also the lead author of Linux Device Drivers, Third Edition. He lives in Boulder, Colorado, and does occasional kernel development as time allows.
This talk presents a moderately technical view of the state of the Linux kernel from several angles. Attendees will get an overview of the development process and its recent history, a look at some of the largest challenges currently facing the kernel developers, and a certain amount of guessing about what may happen with the kernel over the next year. At LPC, this talk will also provide a summary of the most important discussions and decisions from the Kernel Summit held immediately prior to the conference.
